Beyond the Obstacle: Because You’re Stronger Than the $%^# in Your Way

Let’s talk about obstacles. You know, those pesky little (or sometimes not-so-little) roadblocks that life loves to throw in your path. For BIPOC women, obstacles can feel like they come with extra layers—systemic barriers, cultural expectations, and the occasional side-eye from someone who doesn’t think you belong in the room. But here’s the thing girl,: you’re stronger than the stuff in your way.

Did you know that 67% of women say they’ve faced significant obstacles in their careers, but 82% of those women also say overcoming those challenges made them more resilient? Resilience isn’t just a buzzword—it’s your secret weapon. Every time you push through an obstacle, you’re building mental muscle for the next one.

So, how do you move beyond the obstacle? First, acknowledge it. Pretending it’s not there won’t make it disappear. Second, reframe it. Instead of seeing it as a stop sign, see it as a detour. What can you learn from this? How can it make you stronger?

For couples, obstacles can be a chance to grow together. Maybe it’s a financial setback, a family disagreement, or just figuring out how to coexist in a tiny apartment. Instead of letting the obstacle divide you, use it as an opportunity to unite. Ask yourselves: “How can we tackle this as a team?”

And let’s not forget: sometimes the biggest obstacle is the voice in your head telling you you’re not enough. Let me tell you now…that voice is LYING! You are enough—more than enough. So, take a deep breath, remind yourself of all the obstacles you’ve already overcome, and keep moving forward.
